Totally correct about the celebrity press tour being more memorable than the movie. The movie becomes an inconvenient burden. And the biggest deal made of the celebrity doing normal things.

But ain’t that the same as comedians and their specials, which are often flat, the most memorable bits are their podcasts where they’re normal better than average lives are more interesting than their specials, their spontaneous stuff in quantity fishes out quality better than their creative live-developed specials (that which is created to last).

Comedy is good life, paid therapy or drugs for the comedian, but from being creatively excellent and paid for this brilliance, they’re being the audience’s most garrulous interesting upbeat friend. Audience the silent tag nut to the cool gang but that’s ok, there’s so much of it and it’s 100% voluntary.

At the same time, at least the comedians have live shows. That can be authentic at least. It’s inevitably personal.

Colbert might be a cuck but there’s a running joke in the UK about US TV star comedians coming to London, doing a big arena with 200 dollar cheapest tickets, serving up a perfunctory hash up show without even a nod to references that don’t translate. Sarah Silverman made this joke mainstream as she came with some credibility and her shows had as much joy as the night Bill Cosby date rape.

There’s nothing viral in YouTube except it’s accidental, and even then it’s probably started by Ogilvy and Mather.

We’re getting C+ creative celebrities with A grade face and charisma and demographic hit.

Ain’t no new ugly YouTube stars.

Ain’t that many ugly new breakthrough musicians but the edges still admit of talent, kinda.

But how is someone creative to get their creation to the starting gate, i.e. enough strangers to give it enough minutes to let quality blow up.
